Work-Life Balance
I had two interviews this past week. I was so nervous! I have worked at my current position since 2019. Leaving my boss will be extremely hard. She has trained me so well for this position and future endeavors and now wants me to spread my wings. Honestly, it’s time and I NEED MORE MONEY!
I have three on going interview processes with different departments. I am looking for a friendly and semi-relaxed work environment that has a hybrid-schedule. For me a peaceful workplace is equally as important as the salary. Now I am not saying you pick something that doesn’t meet your basic needs but you best believe that liking what you do and where you work makes life easier.
Growing up I was always taught to be an overachiever. Let’s start with college. My mother created my freshman schedule. I was taking six classes and working two jobs. In her defense she stated that I was able to which was true but WHY? Now that I am approaching 30, I have realized that I have the power to create and maintain a healthy work-life balance for myself. What worked for my mother, aunts, cousins and friends may not work for me.
UPDATE! I was offered 2 out of 3 of the positions. I will be making way more money and still being able to keep all the things that I value about my current position. In the beginning of the year I promised myself to incorporate God in everything I am doing for the next 6 months. My prayer list consistent of getting a new job and God showed up in the first month.
This year I am releasing the weight of having to be an independent, black woman. My desire is to truly rest in my “soft life”. Finding a healthy work-life balance will help me to enjoy my life. I am figuring out what truly makes me happy and I am sharing that happiness with MY people.
