SPACE & TIME
SPACE
Space means “mental space” in this season. It means that as a mommy my mental space is super important. If I am not okay, Aveyah is not okay. In order to protect your mental space you have to protect your physical and spiritual space. All of these things will not always be 100%. This year I am dedicated to allowing myself to be unraveled and not put together “perfectly”. I am encouraging criticism and accountability from trusted individuals, because I know it will ultimately make me better in the future. I am falling in love with being who God has called me to be regardless of the opinions of others. When I am good with God, everything else becomes so much easier.
For me a healthy mental space is directly related to a healthy spiritual space. A Spiritual Space to me looks like fasting, praying, and reading my bible. I have been in church since I was in my mother's womb. However, I did not have a relationship with God until I was about 22 years old. I formed this relationship by praying and applying the lesson I learned from the Bible to everyday life. Having standards, morals, and a relationship with God truly helps you handle people and yourself with grace. I admire God because His relationship looks different from person to person and He loves us flaws and all. Leaning into my spirituality helps me maintain a positive attitude no matter what life throws at me. Here are a few of my favorite scriptures that help me to maintain a healthy mental space:
'And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. ' - Romans 8:28
'For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord . “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. ' - Jeremiah 29:11
'And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. ' - Colossians 3:17
Because I am a mom who is on the go I often use YOU VERSION bible app to spend time in God's word. This platform is my favorite because I can find different plans to read that are specific to what I am growing through in the moment. I encourage you to download the app and you can add me as a friend at @XaviaH to see what bible verse and plans I am reading.
TIME
- Give things time!
- Rome was not built in one day!
- Time waits for no one!
- Do not put off what you can do today tomorrow!
Time is the one thing you can not control and for me it's the hardest thing to accept. I am always trying to tackle a new task, find a way to make more money, keep a clean house, be a good friend, be a good daughter, be a good mom, and the list goes on… Understanding that God is in control of the time and I am simply the manager, has been helping me utilize my time better. The below bible passage encourages me to focus on the possible while I allow God to focus on the impossible:
'For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away. A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace. What do people really get for all their hard work? I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God. And I know that whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it. God’s purpose is that people should fear him. What is happening now has happened before, and what will happen in the future has happened before, because God makes the same things happen over and over again. ' - Ecclesiastes 3:1-15
Honestly, I was supposed to post this yesterday. I was having such a hard time writing and staying on task because my mind sometimes is everywhere. However, I found courage in the fact that my voice, my thoughts, and my experiences are important and will help whoever needs it. I pray that this blog creates a space for people to be who they are and to find solace in releasing controlling defense mechanisms and truly allowing God to show them that anything is possible.
